Do I have to believe in tapping in order for it to work?
One of the great things about tapping is that you do not have to believe that it will work in order for it to work. However, you do have to do it because "you" want to and not because somebody else wants you to do it. It will also make the process easier if you keep an open mind.
Do I need willpower for tapping to work?
No, that's just another great thing about tapping. You don't need any Willpower. Changes just happen without you having to force them.
- For Example: Say you want to stop your cravings for chocolate. When you use tapping, you may begin to lose your desire for chocolate very quickly.. In many cases, the taste or smell no longer appeals to you. It might smell and taste too sweet or repugnant to you. This happens by itself. I do not put any thoughts or suggestions in your head to make the smell or taste change for you. It just happens sometimes. Other times, the smell & taste remain the same, but the desire is simply gone. There is no way of knowing how your body will process this work until we are actually doing it.
Can I use tapping on my own?
Absolutely, in fact I encourage everyone to use tapping on their own. Tapping is very easy to do and I will teach you how to perform tapping on yourself during our sessions.
Sometimes, you only need one session and then you can continue on your own. This all depends on the issue(s) that are being worked on. Some issues can be resolved in a few short minutes, others may take a few more sessions.
However, tapping is always much faster than conventional talk therapies such as Psychotherapy. It is also much more economical. Instead of spending years in regular talk therapy, you can do the same in as little as one session or a handful of sessions.
Once you have learned the technique you can continue to use it on your own, on other issues that you may want to work on. This is a tool that you will have for the rest of your life. You can also share it with your friends and family.
Some people work on their own once they have learned the technique and then return to me once in a while whenever they need more advanced work.
Can tapping work when medical treatment & medication has not worked?
Yes. This is often the case with Pain, Trauma and other Emotional Conditions ( anxiety, depression, anger, fear, stress, PTSD, etc.)
However, tapping is not a substitute for medical treatment. If you are in pain or have a medical condition or disease, you should definitely go to your doctor for diagnosis and treatment. You can Still do tapping at the same time.
If you are taking medication and tapping eases or eliminates your symptoms /condition, you must NOT reduce or stop your medication / treatment without consulting with your Doctor. Even if you receive 100% relief with tapping, you must still contact your Doctor before making any changes to your medical treatment /medication.
How long does it take to start experiencing results using tapping?
Some issues can be resolved in just a few minutes of tapping, especially the one's that might be considered "simple" issues. However with more "complex" issues, it can take more time, possibly several hours. As you may have to explore many 'avenues' as you feel into where the emotional charges may be coming from.
The goal is to get to the "core issue" that the stress is stemming from. This can take some time. But in most cases, if handled correctly, one may eventually find emotional freedom from lifelong challenges.
Traditional counseling or therapy can take months or years to get to the same result. Sometimes it feels like things are not resolving as fast as we'd like. That's when it's important to remember that complex issues can still be handled much faster, generally with tapping, than with other approaches. Being gentle and patient with yourself, and staying persistent with your efforts will get you there. The tapping works. If it's not working, tapping is not the problem. The problem may be there is some unseen block or that it's not being applied properly. This is where working with a practitioner can help.
It's also very important to make sure issues are completely resolved before deciding it's healed. Often people will want to move on when they get some relief. That is why we use the SUD scale, so we can make sure the issue is completely down to a 0 (zero.) Otherwise, even if one feels much better after a good tapping session, it's possible when something triggers the old pattern or neural network response, one may feel that the tapping didn't work. The evidence is in: If one really clears all of the aspects involved and gets to a 0 (zero) on the SUDs scale, then it's likely gone for good. That is why it's important to start with a checking of the SUD's rating
Although occasionally, at some point, an "aspect" that was missed could show up again. Clearing those are usually quite quick and easy, since the main, stuck patterns have been "collapsed." It's best to keep working on it until you are confident an issue is completely resolved. You can 'test' yourself by trying to get upset about it. If you discover, you can no longer really feel upset like you used to, that's a good sign it's cleared for good.
